Figures released in “A Snapshot of the Asian Couponing Market”, a report by e-commerce marketplace and deals aggregator iprice, show that coupons are still much in demand, even if they might have transited from paper to digital.

With 80,000 searches made last month looking for coupons or discounts codes for the top 100 brands on iprice’s Malaysian store, and a total search volume of 740,000 if the six other countries (Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Thailand) that iprice operates in are taken in consideration, the savings could be quite substantial. aCommerce estimates the value of the 2015 ASEAN e-commerce market at US$7 billion.

iprice also disclosed that the age group that most uses coupons on its platform are those in the 25 to 34 range. Users of digital coupons, which are delivered via coupon codes, SMS or geolocation, save up to 25 per cent on average.
