Saving Money With Beginners Couponing

6793826885_d3b6befb99_bThese days it is not hard to spend a lot of money each week at the grocery store. Groceries are expensive, but a family needs to eat. There is a way that you can fill your cart full of groceries and spend a lot less money.

Why pay full price for groceries when you can get them “on sale” or for free with a coupon. It may seem hard at first, but if your willing to spend a little time and determination it will be worth the savings.

Save Big Money on Your Grocery Bill

Although newspaper subscriptions are on the decline, most papers will have a stack of coupons in the Sunday or Wednesday editions.

Some supermarkets still send weekly circulars through the mail. If you are like most people, they probably go from your mailbox to your recycle bin. Take the time to look through these circulars, they tell you the items that are on sale for the week. They also include coupons you can clip for extra savings.

The Internet is also a good resource for grocery savings. The major grocery stores usually have great deals as well as name brand items that allow you to download and print coupons.

Know the policies of your local stores. Not all stores have the same policies. Questions to ask:

1. Does the store allow you to double your savings? Can you use two coupons in one transaction?
2. Does the store offer savings at checkout to use for your next visit?
3. Does the store allow you to “stack” coupons? Stacking savings is when you are able to use both a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon on the same item.

Keep your coupons organized either by labeling envelopes for each supermarket you have coupons for or by separating your coupons into envelopes labeled with the “type” of coupon. Use one envelope for food coupons. A second envelope can be used for household cleaning and paper products. Use a third envelope for personal care products like shampoo, shaving cream, and toothpaste.

Making a shopping list will help you stay on track. Pull coupons from your envelopes and just take the coupons for the things your buying that week. This way you won’t be searching for coupons while you’re in the supermarket.

Stick with the items on your shopping list. If an item is not a necessity wait until you find it on sale or you have a coupon for it. If you stay organized and do your homework you will be able to save a lot of money by using beginners couponing.
