A CRAFTY mum turned a three-storey doll’s house into a superhero HQ for her son – and it only cost her a few quid.
Charlotte Evans didn’t want to shell out on a toy house which was ‘ridiculously expensive’, or pink, so she decided to make one for a fraction of the cost for Harley.
Someone was chucking away the pink palace, so she grabbed it and upcycled it using free wallpaper samples from B&M and Homebase, some tester pots of paint and a piece of MDF.
The result is an incredible superhero-themed pad featuring Batman, Spiderman and the Hulk levels.
Charlotte shared her transformation to Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, where she encouraged people to upcycle.
She said: “Someone on my road was throwing this old dolls house out so I decided to transform it into a superhero HQ for my son.
“It’s so hard to get hold of a dolls house that isn’t pink or isn’t ridiculously expensive..
“This cost me a few pounds for the tester pots of paint from Homebase and £3 for a piece of MDF to fix one of the backgrounds.
“The rest was coloured paper I had around the house and sample wallpaper pieces from Homebase and B&M.
“There is some bits of furniture to add into it too (but they ruined the photos lol).
“No need to spend loads of money on something the kids get bored with after a while.. just ‘upcycle’.”
More than 12,000 have liked Charlotte’s budget makeover, with one mum saying: “Great idea I was always looking for one for my son.”
Someone else wrote: “This is amazing well done ! What a great transformation, lucky boy!”
A third said: “What a good idea and brilliant job.”
This person thought: “This is amazing!!”
While this mum added: “My daughter has one of these.
“We bought it second hand and some of the walls are faded and looking a bit shabby.
“You’ve just inspired me to do it up for her.”
Meanwhile this mum bags a £20 Baby Alive doll for just 10p in B&M and parents are rushing to stock up.
Plus this single mum who couldn’t find a triple bunk bed built her own using Ikea bargains & people are in awe of her idea.
